We were employed by the Department for Transport to manage the commuications programme for the £680m Local Sustainable Transport Fund programme. With 96 projects funded throughout the length and breadth of England, we facilitated communication between projects to share good practice. We developed a national annual magazine, regular features pages in transport journals, and online, and managed a series of workshops, masterclasses and national conference.
Coventry City Council has transformed their cycling infrastruture and were seeking to promote the cycling network to employers, universities and local residents. We developed a strategy to input the network onto the Bike Citizens navigation app, advertising through the univeristy and cycle campaigners to work with us to choose the best cycle routes, thus engaging the target audience in the development process. We attracted local media at event launches both promoting the new navigation system and the cycle facilities. The project is ongoing, but so far during the low season for cycling has already seen over 500 downloads within the first month after the launch.
We were employed by Kent County Council to assist in the marketing of the LSTF funded Brompton cycle hire project. Automated Brompton Docks were installed at three stations in Kent, we managed the launch events and PR, generating front page news in the Canterbury Times. Working with the local business community developed a business user package for key employers. Surveys of local train passengers showed the brand, 'Brompton Dock' was associated with bike parking, we recommended the change to Brompton Bike Hire, which is now the nationally used brand name.
